3. Select a home carefully -- Do not let emotions overcome your ability to make a practical decision.

4. Use a home inspector -- A good inspector should thoroughly inspect the home and be able to answer all your questions.

5. Use professionals -- Carefully select your Realtor, inspector, and closing attorney.
